Advocacy

Community Outreach

Emma Norton Services works with a number of community leaders, private landlords, and local businesses as a part of our advocacy. Growing these partnerships can provide opportunities for our residents, while also transforming the culture of the Twin Cities to prioritize ending homelessness.

Supporting Housing Legislation

Whenever possible, Emma Norton uses its organizational voice to advocate for systemic change to reduce homelessness and increase affordable housing. This includes government investment in emergency shelters, bonds for homes, tenant protection legislation, and expanding access to financial assistance to those at risk of homelessness. View the Minnesota Coalition for the Homeless Legislative Agenda.

Homeless Day on the Hill

Every March hundreds of housing workers, advocates, and housed and unhoused community members spend a day meeting with legislators in St. Paul to encourage them to support affordable housing legislation. Emma Norton staff help interested residents set up one-on-one meetings with senators and representatives so they can speak their own truths to those in power in our state. Learn more about Homeless Day on the Hill.
